CELEBRATING SUMMER 2024
Summer 2024 has been a truly blessed time for the Kensington community. As we reach the end of August, we come together to celebrate the successful conclusion of two remarkable programs hosted by Brenda Mosley, Executive Director of By Faith Health and Healing.
This summer marked more than just a milestone—it opened new doors through the “A Village that Heals Youth Summer Camp” and the “Building a Better Future through the Art of Construction Program.” These programs have left a lasting impact by empowering participants to grow and develop new skills. “These are our future business owners, construction workers, and property managers,” as Ms. Brenda proudly states.
Here’s a recap of this wonderful summer…
A Village that Heals Youth Summer Camp
 | The youth in the summer camp, ranging from 5 to 14 years old, engaged in a variety of creative and skill-building activities. They painted birdhouses, made rubber band bracelets, crocheted, learned how to play soccer, and even picked up some sign language, learning to say, "Good Morning, my name is...". These young participants not only conquered every challenge they faced but went above and beyond, showing remarkable growth and enthusiasm. |
Building a Brighter Future through the Art of Construction
We are beyond proud of the 15 youth—14 young men and 1 young lady—who dedicated their summer to creating a brighter future for their community. Coming from all around the Philadelphia area, these fantastic individuals are on the path to becoming construction entrepreneurs, homeowners, plumbers, welders, and leaders in our world.
After a year of hard work, the Construction Program successfully completed its first major project, which was dedicated to NKCDC and the community, who believed in the mission and success of these young talents. The finished project stands as a testament to the power of the future, symbolizing the courage, confidence, and determination each participant has built by believing in themselves every step of the way.
Our next phase for the Building a Brighter Future through the Art of Construction youth program will resume this fall in October 2024. If you are interested in being a part of this program, please contact Executive Director Brenda Mosley.
Adventures outside of Philly!
By Faith Health and Healing Executive Director, Brenda Mosley, along with participants from all four programs—Mothers Helping Mothers, Men of Power Veterans, The Village That Heals Youth Summer Camp, and Building a Brighter Future Through the Art of Construction—traveled to Washington, DC, accompanied by parents. During this memorable trip, they toured the White House and the African American Museum.
In August, they also took a trip to Knoebels Amusement Resort in the Pocono Mountains, where they enjoyed some peace of mind and celebrated the remainder of the summer.
“What an amazing and historical day this has been! Thank God for the opportunity to take our families, our youth, ladies program, and the Veterans program to Washington, DC, and enjoy the process of life. God’s continued blessings everyone ”
